The Children\u2019s Hospital at Westmead not only saves lives, but also helps to make lives better – both of which they have done for three-year-old Leni. <\/p>\n

Leni\u2019s parents Lisa and Tim were first made aware that something was wrong during a routine scan when the doctor noticed Leni had an unusual shaped head.<\/p>\n

Once Leni was born, it became quickly apparent that she was facing some serious issues – her head was disfigured, and her breathing was laboured.<\/p>\n

While receiving specialist care at The Children\u2019s Hospital at Westmead, Leni was diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder called Crouzon Syndrome; the premature closure of skull bones that can affect the shape of the head and face. <\/p>\n

Leni has difficulties with breathing, hearing and speech, which have required surgery and depend on four different departments at the Hospital for treatment.<\/p>\n\n
