The actress admitted to having paid William ‘Rick’ Singer USD 15,000 to arrange to have her daughter’s test scores raised. \n\nThe Wall Street Journal<\/em><\/a> reports that Huffman was also sentenced to one year’s probation, 250 hours of community service and a $30,000 fine. \n\nThe WSJ<\/em> shares that Huffman wrote a letter to U.S. District Judge Indira Talwani alleging that Singer was initially working as a tutor for her daughter. However, this changed once he began suggesting the young woman would have little chance of winning a place at performing-arts schools with the marks she was getting.\n
\u201cI felt an urgency which built to a sense of panic that there was this huge obstacle in the way that needed to be fixed for my daughter\u2019s sake,\u201d she wrote. <\/em>\n\n\u201cAs warped as this sounds now, I honestly began to feel that maybe I would be a bad mother if I didn\u2019t do what Mr. Singer was suggesting.\u201d<\/em> <\/blockquote>\nHuffman is the first public figure to be sentenced for the scam.
