{"id":1332,"date":"2019-07-13T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2019-07-13T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cms.smooth.com.au\/uncategorised\/taronga-zoo-new-baby-chimp-brighten-your-day\/"},"modified":"2019-07-13T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2019-07-13T00:00:00","slug":"taronga-zoo-new-baby-chimp-brighten-your-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cms.smooth.com.au\/lifestyle\/taronga-zoo-new-baby-chimp-brighten-your-day\/","title":{"rendered":"Taronga Zoo&#8217;s New Baby Chimp Will Brighten Your Day"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Small animals are the best way to brighten up your day.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Our favourite are obviously doggos (cat people, please leave) but we\u2019re definitely not opposed to other cute, fury friends.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Well, Taronga Zoo has gone and done us a solid this fine Sunday and announced the birth of a new baby chimp.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The new tiny addition is named Safiri and was birthed by mum Shiba back in May.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" height=\"747\" width=\"1400\" style=\"width: 100%; height: 100%;\" class=\"media-element file-default nova-lazyload-image-wrapper lz-cont img-responsive\" data-delta=\"1\" src=\"https:\/\/cms.smooth.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/at_2225_1-5.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Look at her lil\u2019 face!&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Baby Safiri is officially out in exhibit today, just in time for World Chimpanzee Day &#8211; talk about perfect timing.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The birth beings more success for Taronga\u2019s chimpanzee conservation efforts. Taronga now has 21 chimpanzees in their dynamic group with the oldest chimpanzee named Spitter going on 60 next year.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cHaving another little girl really helps us balance out our group and having Cebele our one and a half year old as a playmate will really help with Safiri\u2019s growth and development,\u201d Primate Keeper Janet said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Don\u2019t feel sad if you visit the zoo and can\u2019t see Safiri- she\u2019s there, just playing shy.&nbsp; If you look closely, you might spot Safiri\u2019s tiny head or hand and feet occasional poking out from Shiba\u2019s chest as she hugs her baby close.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>As the days pass there will be more opportunities to catch a glimpse of the youngster as Shiba will start to swing Safiri across her back rather than cradling her in front of her chest.<\/p>\n<p>Safiri joins other adorable baby animals at Taronga Zoo Sydney including the three playful Sumatran Tiger cubs.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>You too can help support chimpanzee conservation through simple actions such as recycling your old mobile phones at Taronga Zoo Sydney during their experience or by signing up at Taronga.org.au<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Images: Supplied.&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\r\n\r\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Cuteness level: 100.&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":9,"featured_media":1334,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[201],"tags":[],"geo_market":[],"class_list":["post-1332","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-lifestyle"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO Premium plugin v27.3 (Yoast SEO v27.3) -
