{"id":1477,"date":"2019-06-16T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2019-06-16T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cms.smooth.com.au\/uncategorised\/shrek-musical-coming-australia\/"},"modified":"2019-06-16T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2019-06-16T00:00:00","slug":"shrek-musical-coming-australia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cms.smooth.com.au\/stage\/shrek-musical-coming-australia\/","title":{"rendered":"Shrek The Musical Is Coming To Australia"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Shrek<\/em> is the best animated movie of all time.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Okay, maybe not THE best but definitely up there (<em>The Lion King, Anastasia <\/em>and <em>Toy Story <\/em>all have top spots too).&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\n\n  <img data-original=https:\/\/cms.smooth.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/giphy-177.gif alt=\"the lion king disney GIF\" style=\"width: 100%; height: 100%;\" \/>\n  <noscript><img src=https:\/\/cms.smooth.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/giphy-177.gif alt=\"the lion king disney GIF\" style=\"width: 100%; height: 100%;\" ><\/noscript>\n\n<\/p>\n<p>Because the world needs more grumpy Scottish ogres, <em>Shrek<\/em> was made into a Broadway musical (no, we\u2019re not kidding).&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Now the musical is headed to Australia.<\/p>\n<p>\n\n  <img data-original=https:\/\/cms.smooth.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/giphy-178.gif alt=\"shrek GIF\" style=\"width: 100%; height: 100%;\" \/>\n  <noscript><img src=https:\/\/cms.smooth.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/giphy-178.gif alt=\"shrek GIF\" style=\"width: 100%; height: 100%;\" ><\/noscript>\n\n<\/p>\n<p>The greenified production will open at the Sydney Lyric Theatre, The Star in early January 2020, followed by seasons at Her Majesty\u2019s Theatre, Melbourne and the Lyric Theatre, Brisbane.<\/p>\n<p><em>Shrek<\/em> is going on tour- how good.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The production follows the same story we all grew up loving, laughing at and quoting (\u201cI like that boulder, that\u2019s a nice boulder\u201d\/\u201cTHE MUFFIN MAN?!!!?!\u201d\/\u201cBetter out than in I always say\u201d\/*insert favourite line here*):&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In a faraway kingdom turned upside down, things get ugly when an unseemly ogre \u2013 not a handsome prince \u2013 shows up to rescue a feisty princess.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Throw in a donkey who won\u2019t shut up, a bad guy with a SHORT temper, a cookie with attitude, and over a dozen other fairy tale misfits, and you\u2019ve got the kind of mess that calls for a real hero.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>If a real hero is an ogre with an onion obsession\u2026<\/p>\n<p>\n\n  <img data-original=https:\/\/cms.smooth.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/giphy-179.gif alt=\"Shrek GIF\" style=\"width: 100%; height: 100%;\" \/>\n  <noscript><img src=https:\/\/cms.smooth.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/giphy-179.gif alt=\"Shrek GIF\" style=\"width: 100%; height: 100%;\" ><\/noscript>\n\n<\/p>\n<p>The musical features 19 songs and choreography to match and we\u2019re super keen.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Mainly because watching a green dude dance around in a fat ogre suit will be hilarious.
