My Kitchen Rules is a pretty intense show. <\/p>\n

Cooking under pressure for a bunch of strangers and expert chefs is stressful AF. <\/p>\n

And we get that sometimeesss the pressure gets the better of people. <\/p>\n

But if there\u2019s one thing you should never do, it\u2019s make assumptions about other people. <\/p>\n

Making assumptions is not cool. <\/p>\n

But one contestant missed the memo and found themselves in a bit of a situation on Sunday night\u2019s episode. <\/p>\n

Lyn Elbourn took the table talk from pleasant to just plain awkward by remarking that she thought fellow contestant Karolina Borkovic was \u201ctrans\u201d.<\/p>\n

Contestants had been discussing Karolina\u2019s height, commenting that she’s \u201cextraordinarily tall,\u201d and Lynn followed up by saying \u201cIt\u2019s true, I thought you were trans.\u201d <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\u201cYou thought I was a transvestite?\u201d a stunned Karolina shot back in disbelief. <\/p>\n

Yeah\u2026 <\/p>\n

To clarify, being \u201ctrans\u201d and being a \u201ctransvestite\u201d are two very different (and very okay) things: <\/p>\n

A \u201ctransgender\u201d person, according to the Australian Government Guidelines on the Recognition of Sex and Gender<\/a>, is \u201cgeneral term for a person whose gender is different to their sex at birth.\u201d<\/p>\n

A transvestite, according to the Judicial Commission of NSW<\/a> \u201cdescribes a person who cross-dresses rather than someone who believes that their gender identity is different to their assigned gender\u201d.<\/p>\n

Lyn instantly looked remorseful for the comment, admitting that she had \u201cput [her] foot in her mouth.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI did not mean to upset her, or to hurt her,\u201d she added in a piece to camera.<\/p>\n

Despite Lyn being apologetic, Karolina wasn\u2019t ready to forgive: \u201cYou did point out something that I’m really sensitive about,’ she said. \u201cYou friggin’ hurt my feelings!\u201d<\/p>\n

Lyn then left the table and burst into tears, leaving her teammate Sal to jump to her defence. <\/p>\n

\u201cLyn’s not like that at all,’ he explained. \u201cShe didn’t mean anything to hurt you. She’s only upset now because she’s hurt you, and she’s not that type of person at all.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt hurt my core,\u201d Karolina explained. \u201cI have two beautiful sisters and we’re all very tall. Our stature is not particularly gentle, our personalities are not particularly gentle, but we are far from being transvestites.\u201d<\/p>\n

Karolina initially refused to accept Lyn\u2019s apology but eventually came around. <\/p>\n

When Lyn returned to the table the two ladies clinked glasses and agreed to leave the whole thing behind them like the kind, mature adults they are. <\/p>\n

The dinner party then proceeded as normal. <\/p>\n

Food was cooked, food was enjoyed and Pat and Bianca scored a total 91 points for their restaurant. <\/p>\n
