Following the discovery of needles in strawberries, an apple and a banana, the West Australian government and Queensland government are offering a $100,000 reward for any information into the investigation.<\/p>\n

News.Com.Au<\/a><\/em> reports the New South Wales police are currently investigating after the apple and banana discoveries were made with the scare now spreading across six states.<\/p>\n\n

WA Premier Mark McGowan described the people responsible as dropkicks who are liable to 20 years imprisonment.<\/p>\n

Speaking with reporters he said:<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you undertake this sort of activity you can and will be caught\u2026 Those people deserve to go to jail.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

It comes a day after a Sydney mum found a needle in a Pink Lady apple that she purchased from Woolworths at The Ponds in Sydney\u2019s north west according to Seven News.<\/em><\/p>\n

The woman, who\u2019s identified only as Carmella, was peeling the apple for her daughter to take to school when she came across something hard that she thought was the stem. She said she was horrified to discover it was in fact a needle.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis can\u2019t possibly be happening, not in apples, I\u2019ve seen the stories about strawberries and I\u2019d been vigilant about cutting those up for the girls but to see this in an apple \u2026\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

She contacted the police immediately and they are investigating.<\/p>\n

Seven News reports the NSW Department of Health and NSW Police are advising Woolies not to remove their apples from shelves for now.<\/p>\n

NSW Police are issuing warnings to copycats with Detective Superintendent Daniel Doherty, who leads the Robbery and Serious Crime squad, revealed there have been a large number of incidents reported. He also added there would be no tolerance for \u201cself-contamination\u201d<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Anyone caught contaminating fruit will face a 10-year jail sentence.<\/p>\n

At this point there have been 22 needles have been found across Australia:<\/p>\n

NSW: <\/strong>8<\/p>\n

VIC:<\/strong> 6<\/p>\n

QLD:<\/strong> 4<\/p>\n

WA: <\/strong>4<\/p>\n

SA:<\/strong> 3<\/p>\n

TAS: <\/strong>1<\/p>\n

In Brisbane, tradesman Hoani Hearne, 21, was taken to hospital after swallowing a needle in a strawberry.<\/p>\n

Don\u2019t let this stop you from buying strawberries and supporting local farmers, but make sure to cut up the strawberries before eating them.<\/p>\n
