Serena Williams has responded to backlash over the compression bodysuit she chose to wear at the French Open.<\/p>\n
Yes, instead of praising Williams for her insane athletic ability, incomparable skills as a tennis player and overall excellence, people were focused on what she was wearing. <\/p>\n\n
And when we say people we’re talking about the president of the French Tennis Federation, Bernard Giudicelli.<\/p>\n
Giudicelli announced that they would be enacting a dress code for future games. <\/p>\n
He said that outfits like Serena’s go “too far,” <\/em>and specifically called out her bodysuit.<\/p>\n \u201cIt will no longer be accepted. One must respect the game and the place.”<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n Hey Giudicelli, did you know that Williams’ bodysuit served as medical purpose as well as being perfectly acceptable on a tennis court.<\/p>\n The bodysuit was actually specifically designed to help Williams prevent blood clots which has been an ongoing health issue for the athlete. <\/p>\n Thank god others disagreed.<\/p>\n\n The policing of women\u2019s bodies must end.
