Famous chef Jo\u00ebl Robuchon, who mentored Gordon Ramsay, has passed away aged 73 following a battle with cancer according to a spokeswoman.<\/p>\n
Mr Robuchon, who was famous for holding more Michelin stars than any other chef, reportedly died in Geneva<\/p>\n\n
He was known for his innovation and playfulness in the kitchen and was named cook of the century in 1990. His restaurants can be found in Paris, Tokyo, Las Vegas and New York City. <\/p>\n
Cook and food writer Patricia Wells wrote in L\u2019Atelier de Joel Robuchon, a book about the chef and his students:<\/p>\n
\u201cTo describe Joel Robuchon as a cook is a bit like calling Pablo Picasso a painter, Luciano Pavarotti a singer, Frederic Chopin a pianist.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n
\u201cJoel Robuchon will undoubtedly go down as the artist who most influenced the <\/em>20th century<\/em> world of cuisine.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
Mr Robuchon is also famous for once throwing a plate at Gordon Ramsay in frustration, telling The Telegraph<\/em> in 2003:<\/p>\n
\u201cI remember it was a dish of langoustine ravioli\u2026 He hadn\u2019t made it properly. I told him so and Gordon reacted in a very arrogant manner.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
Gordon took to Instagram to write a tribute to his old friend, he said:<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ve Lost The God Father of Michelin the most decorated Chef in the World, he kept all of us on our toes! Even when we were sleeping! Merci Chef, God Bless.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n
