Queen Elizabeth was forced to cancel an event overnight in London at the last minute due to illness. <\/p>\n
The 92-year-old chose not to attend a service at St Paul\u2019s Cathedral marking the 200th anniversary of the Most Distinguished Order of St Michael and St George.<\/p>\n\n
Buckingham Palace released a short statement which read:<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Queen is feeling under the weather today and has decided not to attend this morning\u2019s service at St Paul\u2019s Cathedral.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n
\u201cHer Majesty will be represented by The Duke of Kent as Grand Master of the Order.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
The press were told Her Majesty was not seriously ill and would be travelling to Windsor Castle as she does every Thursday afternoon. The Queen has cut back on working days and enjoys having long weekends at Windsor Castle.<\/p>\n
Because the Queen was unable to attend, Angelina Jolie, who was invited to receive an honour from the Order which is granted by the Queen on advice of the Prime Minister, stole the limelight.<\/p>\n
The Queen was most recently seen in public on Monday night at an event for young leaders from around the Commonwealth with Prince Harry <\/a>and his wife Meghan Markle<\/a>. <\/p>\n
She was also seen most days last week at the Royal Ascot race meeting. <\/p>\n
Last month Her Majesty had eye surgery to remove a cataract, but did not need to cancel any engagements.<\/p>\n
