{"id":3159,"date":"2018-06-28T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2018-06-28T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cms.smooth.com.au\/uncategorised\/clone-woolworths-announces-new-change-back-plastic-bag-ban\/"},"modified":"2018-06-28T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2018-06-28T00:00:00","slug":"clone-woolworths-announces-new-change-back-plastic-bag-ban","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cms.smooth.com.au\/news\/clone-woolworths-announces-new-change-back-plastic-bag-ban\/","title":{"rendered":"Woolworths announces new change to the plastic bag ban"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Reports from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.news.com.au\/finance\/business\/retail\/woolworths-will-now-hand-out-free-reusable-bags-to-customers\/news-story\/d367e5e821d17b82c15fdfd25963c5c0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">news.com.au<\/a> have today revealed that supermarket giant Woolies has changed its tune slightly when it comes to their plastic bag ban.<\/p>\n\n<p>The supermarket chain has decided to give out <em>free<\/em> reusable bags to customers who have&nbsp;forgotten to bring their own or need extras.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n<p>The temporary change will see Woolworths stores in Victoria, NSW, Queensland and WA give out the free carry bags from today (June 29th) until July 8th.&nbsp; &nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Claire Peters, the managing director of Woolies, told news.com.au that the transition away from plastic bags has been a slightly challenging one:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cWhile some customers have forgotten their reusable bags altogether, many have done the right thing and brought their own only to end up one or two reusable bags short.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cThat\u2019s why from now until Sunday, July 8, if customers forget their reusable bags, we\u2019ll have complimentary reusable bags available for their shopping at Woolworths.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cThis will not only help support customers as they work to form new habits, but also ensure they\u2019ll have reusable bags on hand when they next choose to shop with us.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Woolworths kicked off their plastic bag ban on June 20th.<\/p>\n<p><em>Image: Hugh Peterswald\/Pacific Press\/LightRocket via Getty Images<\/em><\/p>\r\n\r\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Do you approve?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":11,"featured_media":3160,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[215],"tags":[],"geo_market":[],"class_list":["post-3159","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-news"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO Premium plugin v20.10 (Yoast SEO v21.5) -
