Lisa Wilkinson was brought to tears on The Project<\/em> on Friday night as she spoke about the death of Eurydice Dixon. <\/p>\n

Eurydice was just 22-years-old when she was found dead in a Melbourne park on Wednesday, hours later Jaymes Todd, 19, was accused of raping and murdering the aspiring comedian. <\/p>\n\n

Wilkinson delivered a powerful speech on The Project <\/em>where she called for a change in the attitude towards women’s safety. And we couldn’t agree more.<\/p>\n

Lisa was brought to tears as she finished her speech, saying:<\/p>\n

\u201cThis might upset some people but, honestly, parents, instead of telling our girls not to walk through parks, maybe we should be telling our boys not to rape them.\u201d <\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

She finished with Handmaid’s Tale <\/em>author Margaret Atwood’s famous quote:<\/p>\n

\u201cMen are afraid that women will laugh at them. Women are afraid that men will kill them.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Lisa admitted she was constantly worried about her daughter Billi if she’s walking alone at night:<\/p>\n

\u201cEvery time she has to walk across campus, if it\u2019s later at night, she calls me, and I\u2019ve always said to her, \u2018Call me at any time so that you can feel safe<\/em>\u2019,<\/em> because we\u2019ve had the discussion.”<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cShe needs to be on the phone so that if any potential person is going to do her wrong, that person knows she has a lifeline to somebody else.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

She then pleaded with Anthony Lehmann and Hamish Macdonald, asking them to help make a difference.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou boys have to talk to your mates, and you have to make them understand that violence against women is wrong. It\u2019s really, really, really wrong.”<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
