The placenta safeguards the baby from harmful substances such as heavy metals and bacteria which can accumulate,&#8221; he told the publication.&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.treeoflifebirthandbeyond.com.au\/placentophagia---what-is-it-and-what-are-the-benefits.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">company who provided the service<\/a> charge $80 for the smoothie and $300 for placenta encapsulation (with an additional $50 charge for twins).
