No. It\u2019s being developed so that people who are physically unable to exercise (the elderly, the ill and so on) can reap the physical benefits of training.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n<p>Speaking with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/national\/health-science\/an-exercise-pill-may-be-in-the-future-for-those-incapable-of-working-out\/2018\/03\/02\/e8af9370-1bdb-11e8-ae5a-16e60e4605f3_story.html?utm_term=.4c09297508e6\" target=\"_blank\"><em>The Washington Post<\/em><\/a>, Ronald Evans, director of the gene expression laboratory at the Salk Institute for Biological Studies in La Jolla, Calif. revealed that:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cWe are taking this concept and trying to develop a drug that can help us game the system that is naturally activated during exercise.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The intention is to get the drug to mimic the effects of exercise. Evans refers to it as, <em>\u201ca <\/em><em>back door<\/em><em> into the exercise genetic network\u201d<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"SATC HBO exercise training girls gossip.gif\" height=\"273\" width=\"500\" style=\"width: 100%; height: 100%;\" class=\"media-element file-media-original nova-lazyload-image-wrapper lz-cont img-responsive\" data-delta=\"1\" src=\"https:\/\/cms.smooth.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/anigif_enhanced-4921-1392073696-11.gif\" title=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>As <em>The Washington Post<\/em> shares, the research being conducted considers previous studies that have <em>\u201cidentified a gene mechanism that encourages the muscles to burn fat\u201d<\/em>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Presently, Evans has one particular illness in mind when it comes to this research project, and that is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gstatic.com\/healthricherkp\/pdf\/duchenne_muscular_dystrophy_en_AU.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Duchenne muscular dystrophy; a chronic condition that causes muscles to waste away<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Evans told the publication:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cThis [disease] afflicts kids who can\u2019t exercise and ultimately die of muscle wasting, often at a relatively early age, at 15 or 16.\u201d&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>While the exercise pill has a long way to get yet, approval by the Food and Drug Administration sitting pretty high on their to-do list, Evans has high hopes for the change it can generate.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>He said:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cPeople are designed to move. But if they can\u2019t, it\u2019s not healthy to be sedentary. That\u2019s why we are developing this drug. We are trying to take science out of the laboratory and bring it into the clinic in a way that can change people\u2019s lives.
