Bareilles not only composed every song in the musical, she ALSO wrote all the lyrics.<\/p>\n<p>The show, which has been a smash hit overseas, tells the story of Jenna, a pregnant, pie-baking waitress, trying to escape an abusive relationship with her husband. A baking contest in a nearby county and the town&#8217;s new doctor may offer her a chance at a fresh start, while her fellow waitresses offer their own recipes for happiness. But Jenna must summon the strength and courage to rebuild her own life.<\/p>\n<p>\n\n  <img src=https:\/\/cms.smooth.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/screen_shot_2020-01-21_at_3.23.45_pm-1.png height=\"326\" width=\"615\" style=\"width: 100%; height: 100%;\" class=\"media-element file-default\" delta=\"1\" alt=\"\" \/>\n  <noscript><img src=https:\/\/cms.smooth.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/screen_shot_2020-01-21_at_3.23.45_pm-1.png height=\"326\" width=\"615\" style=\"width: 100%; height: 100%;\" class=\"media-element file-default\" delta=\"1\" alt=\"\" ><\/noscript>\n\n<\/p>\n<p>Bareilles will portray Jenna on the West End stage for six weeks from January 27, and told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/entertainment-arts-51174245\">BBC News<\/a> the musical has changed her life.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cI talk about my life in categories &#8211; before Waitress and after Waitress. I can&#8217;t imagine my life without it.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Bareilles has previously filled the role on Broadway, playing Jenna three times.
