{"id":38941,"date":"2020-01-17T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2020-01-17T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cms.smooth.com.au\/uncategorised\/west-side-story-star-thrilled-remake\/"},"modified":"2020-01-31T04:02:13","modified_gmt":"2020-01-31T04:02:13","slug":"west-side-story-star-thrilled-remake","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cms.smooth.com.au\/entertainment\/tv-movies\/west-side-story-star-thrilled-remake\/","title":{"rendered":"West Side Story Star \u2018Thrilled\u2019 With Remake"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Rita Moreno has heaped praise on Steven Spielberg, for keeping the essence of the original West Side Story in his blockbuster remake.<\/p>\n<p>The critically acclaimed director invited Moreno, who starred as Anita in the 1961 film, to consider a role in his adaptation of the classic, and consult on the script and direction.<\/p>\n<p>Moreno said the offer put her at ease, after originally fearing the new version would be sub-standard.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cI was worried, because you\u2019re gonna take a good thing and mess with this,\u201d she admitted.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cIt took a while for me to be convinced, but now I get an executive producer credit &#8211; so not too shabby!\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\n\n  <img src=https:\/\/cms.smooth.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/amblin-twitter-wss-1.jpg style=\"width: 100%; height: 100%;\" class=\"media-element file-default\" delta=\"1\" width=\"1400\" height=\"836\" alt=\"\" \/>\n  <noscript><img src=https:\/\/cms.smooth.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/amblin-twitter-wss-1.jpg style=\"width: 100%; height: 100%;\" class=\"media-element file-default\" delta=\"1\" width=\"1400\" height=\"836\" alt=\"\" ><\/noscript>\n\n<\/p>\n<p>Moreno picked up an Oscar for her role in the original West Side Story, and said Spielberg relied on her expertise regularly on set.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cI was on set whenever I wanted to be. Steven asked me a lot of questions, he was enthralled that he had the source.
