It\u2019s a question bemoaned by the likes of Shakespeare himself. Where\u2019s the best place to sit in the theatre?<\/p>\n

After all, there are plenty of options to choose from, each offering a dramatically different view of the action. So, it’s important to have all the information before you splash on those Cursed Child tickets (or whatever you\u2019re going to see).<\/p>\n

As a general rule, there really are no bad seats in a theatre. The ancient designs are geared toward each and every attendee being able to fully immerse in the experience, so there\u2019s not too much to stress about. However, some people like a different viewing experience and certain spots have different pros and cons, so let\u2019s get into this shall we?<\/p>\n

All theatres have a number of different sections, including stalls, circles, and boxes, and we\u2019ve broken down some must-know info for each.<\/p>\n

STALLS<\/strong>

\n\tStalls are the general ground floor seats, directly in front of the stage. A lot of theatregoers would argue that these are the best seats, because you\u2019re directly immersed in the action – and the only obstruction to a perfect view would be a dreaded human-giraffe-in-the-seat-in-front-of-you (It\u2019s a nightmare, folks). <\/p>\n

Pretty much any seat in the Stalls will give theatergoers a good view, even in the far back – because it\u2019s literally designed that way. You might think front row would be better here but not always. Some performances sell cheaper tickets for the front rows of the stalls, to compensate for the possibility of a sore neck looking up at the stage. Middle of the pack tends to be the most overall popular here.<\/p>\n

CIRCLES<\/strong>

\n\tCircles are the raised platforms above the stalls, sometimes referred to as \u2018balcony seats\u2019. Again, basically everywhere here has a brilliant view, but the best place to be is right up the front of the Circle. These tickets can get a bit expensive, but trust us when we say it\u2019s worth it.<\/p>\n

Sitting in the far right or left of the Circles could restrict your view a tad – but if we\u2019re being realistic, it\u2019s probably not gonna hamper your experience of the theatre\u2026 which is generally magical.<\/p>\n

Some theatres have multiple levels of Circles, with an Upper or Dress Circle above the main. This obviously means that you\u2019ll be watching the show from a little higher up, which can sometimes give you a better view. These tickets are usually a bit more budget friendly because they\u2019re a bit further back – so if you\u2019re a theatre newbie, these seats might be what you\u2019re looking for.<\/p>\n

BOXES<\/strong>

\n\tBoxes are self-contained, private areas to each side of the stage for small groups. Frequented by the likes of the Royal family, politicians and general VIPs, Boxes have been traditionally seen as the best seats in the house (and usually have an enormous price tag to back it up).<\/p>\n

The best thing about sitting in Boxes is avoiding the distraction of Karen\u2019s phone lighting up – as she texts her friends in the middle of the show.<\/p>\n

Distractions aside, Boxes are usually closer to the audio equipment, so have the best sound, as well as a brilliant view of the cast, and a general air of sophistication and class.<\/p>\n
