When she was just six months old, Mum, Smital, took Aru to the doctor when she had started breathing a little faster than usual. Scans revealed that her left lung had collapsed, with Aru’s heart only functioning at eight per cent, after a virus has severely weakened it.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The shock was unimaginable. Aru was born perfectly healthy and suddenly she needed life-saving surgery <\/p>Smital, Aru’s Mother<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

The family stayed in Melbourne’s Royal Children\u2019s Hospital for six months waiting for Aru’s heart transplant. That\u2019s when the family discovered Starlight<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When Aru was first moved into the ward, Captain Starlight’s visit brought a beaming smile to Aru’s face – a big relief considering she was plugged into life-saving equipment and limited in her mobility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After treatment\ncomplications, Aru\u2019s family spends much more time at hospital, making it their\nnew \u201cnormal.\u201d With hospital consuming their lives, they are thankful for the\nlittle moments of happiness that help Aru\u2019s family cope with the relentless\nstrain & worry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
