The latest rumour out of Hollywood is that we just might have a leading man for the upcoming Joker movie (which remains untitled for the moment)\u2026 and it might not be who you\u2019d expect. <\/p>\n\n

If the whispers are anything to go by, 43-year-old actor Joaquin Phoenix will be taking on the role of the disturbed Batman villain. <\/p>\n

The Warner Bros. production is set to be written and directed by Todd Phillips, who, according to Variety<\/em><\/a>, has had his eye on Phoenix for a good while now. Apparently, Phillips has now been able to convince the Walk the Line<\/em> star to join the comic universe as one of history\u2019s most iconic bad guys. <\/p>\n

If you\u2019re wondering what this means for Jared Leto and the Suicide Squad<\/em> franchise, the answer appears to be: nothing. It is believed Leto will remain in the role of the Joker for the sequel of the DC film, regardless of whether or not Phoenix will play the character in the unnamed origin film.<\/p>\n
