<\/p>\nWell folks, this might be the most epic case of screwing up we’ve EVER seen.<\/p>\n
Just hours ago, an emergency alert was sent to Hawaii’s residents warning of an imminent ballistic missile attack.<\/p>\n
While this sounds scary and cause for immediate action\/concern, it turns out an employee at the state emergency management agency simply pushed the “wrong button”.<\/p>\n
State officials and the United States military’s Pacific Command have confirmed there was no actual threat to the state.<\/p>\n

Damage is kind of done though…<\/p>\n
Governor David Ige, who apologised for the mistake, said the alert was sent during an employee shift change at the Hawaii Emergency Management Agency (which btw occurs three times a day, every day of the year).<\/p>\n
“It was a procedure that occurs at the change of shift where they go through to make sure that the system, that it’s working. And an employee pushed the wrong button,” he said.<\/em><\/p>\n
“I was awakened by the alert like everyone else here in the state of Hawaii. It was unfortunate and regrettable.We will be looking at how we can improve the procedures so it doesn’t happen again.”<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
Now that the threat is well and truly quashed, Twitter are getting back to doing what they do best, poking fun at the mistake:<\/p>\n\n
