This, my fur-baby-loving-friends, is one of those times.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>You see, it seems that businesses are beginning to recognise the importance of properly caring for pets. Especially those who are new to the family and don\u2019t yet understand that peeing in the pantry and using your Gucci sneakers as a chew toy is not on.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"jimmy fallon puppies puppy gif\" height=\"281\" width=\"500\" style=\"width: 100%; height: 100%;\" class=\"media-element file-media-original nova-lazyload-image-wrapper lz-cont img-responsive\" data-delta=\"1\" src=\"https:\/\/cms.smooth.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/giphy_692.gif\" title=\"\" \/><\/p>\n\n<p>Because of this, and the fact that studies have shown that a <a href=\"https:\/\/bamni.co.uk\/2015\/10\/17\/four-in-ten-people-have-pulled-a-sickie-from-work-for-their-pet\/\">whopping four-in-ten people have chucked a sickie because of their pet,<\/a> a number of companies are now introducing paid days off for pet parents.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/commentisfree\/2018\/jan\/03\/dog-leave-people-pets-paid-days-off\"><em>The Guardian<\/em><\/a>, Brewdog brewery and Mars (the parent company of Whiskas and Pedigree) were the brains behind this new work perk, designed to give owners the adequate time to help a new dog or cat settle in at home.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n<p>Apparently, Manhattan is where the idea has taken off most substantially so far with some businesses even offering leave in the case of the death of an employee\u2019s pet.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>For the moment, no word on whether this will make its way to Australia but&nbsp;considering the stats, we wouldn\u2019t be surprised if it begins rolling out sometime soon.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em>Images: Getty, NBC<\/em><\/p>\r\n\r\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Introducing: \u201cpawternity leave\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":11,"featured_media":4330,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[215],"tags":[],"geo_market":[],"class_list":["post-4328","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-news"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO Premium plugin v27.3 (Yoast SEO v27.3) -
