{"id":50513,"date":"2021-06-21T09:20:02","date_gmt":"2021-06-20T23:20:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cms.smooth.com.au\/?p=50513"},"modified":"2021-06-21T09:20:17","modified_gmt":"2021-06-20T23:20:17","slug":"bindi-irwin-opens-up-about-psychological-abuse-from-her-estranged-grandfather-bob-irwin","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cms.smooth.com.au\/entertainment\/celebrity\/bindi-irwin-opens-up-about-psychological-abuse-from-her-estranged-grandfather-bob-irwin\/","title":{"rendered":"Bindi Irwin Opens Up About \u2018Psychological Abuse\u2019 From Her Estranged Grandfather Bob Irwin"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>In celebration of American Father\u2019s Day &#8211; yes, ours is in September, relax &#8211;\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/cms.smooth.com.au\/entertainment\/celebrity\/bindi-irwin-is-twinning-with-daughter-grace-in-adorable-snaps\/\">Bindi Irwin<\/a> shared a heart-felt post to Facebook in honour of the \u201cthree most incredible fathers in my life\u201d- her dad Steve, husband Chandler, and father-in-law Chris.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cMy dad taught me the importance of strength when standing up for what I believe in and to have empathy for all living beings,\u201d Bindi shared.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cMy husband amazes me every day\u2026 My father-in-law works tirelessly for his family.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/post.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2FBindisueIrwin%2Fposts%2F329952148500766&#038;show_text=true&#038;width=500\" width=\"500\" height=\"759\" style=\"border:none;overflow:hidden\" scrolling=\"no\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" allow=\"autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; picture-in-picture; web-share\"><\/iframe>\n\n\n\n<p>But one user noticed Bob Irwin &#8211; Steve Irwin\u2019s own father and Bindi\u2019s grandfather &#8211; was left out of the post.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWhat about your grandfather you know your fathers, father!!! He too was a good man, who I assume got the shaft [sic],\u201d they wrote.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bindi then explained that her grandfather is no longer part of her life due to years of \u201cmental abuse\u201d which has caused her \u201cenormous pain.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI really wish that my entire family could spend time with Grace. Unfortunately my grandfather Bob has shown no interest in spending time with me or my family,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cPublicly he continues to claim that he wants to spend time with us while privately my entire life has been psychological abuse from him.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/imgix.pedestrian.tv\/content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/20\/200326713_1983308198488140_3491246270876398601_n-1.jpeg?auto=format&amp;fit=fill&amp;q=65&amp;nrs=30\" alt=\"Bindi Bob Irwin\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Bindi goes on to give examples of how Bob Irwin has isolated and caused her and her family emotional pain.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Despite this rift, Bindi explained that the family still send Bob funds every week after he retired from Australia Zoo in 1992.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fans shared their love and support for Bindi in the comments section, praising her ability to do what\u2019s best for herself, her family and her own boundaries.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWell said Warrior Mama! You have a loving heart and boundaries.
