{"id":51963,"date":"2021-08-03T10:11:05","date_gmt":"2021-08-03T00:11:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cms.smooth.com.au\/?p=51963"},"modified":"2021-08-03T10:11:10","modified_gmt":"2021-08-03T00:11:10","slug":"treat-your-tastebuds-to-this-oozy-chocolate-cake-recipe","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cms.smooth.com.au\/lifestyle\/food-drink\/treat-your-tastebuds-to-this-oozy-chocolate-cake-recipe\/","title":{"rendered":"Treat Your Tastebuds To This Oozy Chocolate Cake Recipe"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Whether you\u2019re in lockdown or not, winter has us craving a gooey piece of chocolate cake &#8211; and fast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Who better to answer our sweet cravings than TV chef Ed Halmalgyi?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <em>Better Homes &amp; Garden<\/em> presenter &#8211; known as Fast Ed &#8211; has whipped up the Liquid Centred Chocolate Cake of our DREAMS, as he urges all parents &#8211; especially parents of boys &#8211; to teach kids to bake and encourage the practice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p><em>\u201cCooking is a great teacher,\u201d he says. \u201cNot only do kids learn the techniques themselves, but they also learn a host of other intangibles: problem-solving and creativity, improvisation, and even adventurousness.\u201d<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Ed\u2019s Liquid Centred Chocolate Cake recipe &#8211; in his new book <em>Better Homes &amp; Garden Seasonal Kitchen <\/em>&#8211; is perfect for kids to learn and extremely tasty for us, so it&#8217;s a win-win.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Check out the recipe below:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Ingredients:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>1 \u00bd&nbsp; cups caster sugar<\/li><li>125g unsalted butter, softened<\/li><li>3 free-range eggs<\/li><li>1 Tbsp natural vanilla extract<\/li><li>1 \u00bc cups self-raising flour<\/li><li>\u00be&nbsp; cup cocoa powder<\/li><li>250ml buttermilk<\/li><li>300ml thickened cream<\/li><li>400g dark chocolate, finely chopped<\/li><li>Berries, miniature biscuits and edible flowers, to garnish<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Instructions:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Preheat oven to 180\u00b0C fan-forced (200\u00b0C conventional). Grease and line a medium loaf pan with baking paper.&nbsp;<\/li><li>Combine sugar and butter in bowl of an electric mixer and beat with a paddle attachment on medium speed for 10 minutes, until very light. Beat in eggs, 1 at a time, then add half of the vanilla extract.<\/li><li>Sift flour and cocoa together, then mix into sugar mixture gently, alternating with buttermilk.&nbsp;<\/li><li>Spoon into loaf pan, then bake for 40-45 minutes, until a skewer can be inserted and removed cleanly. Cool on a wire rack.<\/li><li>Bring cream and remaining vanilla to the boil in a small saucepan over high heat, then pour over chocolate and whisk until smooth.&nbsp;<\/li><li>Use a bread knife to cut top of cake, then make a channel in the centre. Fill with three-quarters of the chocolate sauce and replace cake lid.<\/li><li>&nbsp;Pour rest of chocolate sauce over cake.
