We have three requirements for TV shows: a wholesome touch, a tinge of drama and (most importantly), tasty food. Thankfully, MasterChef Australia<\/em> ticks all these boxes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

While we love everything MasterChef<\/em><\/a> <\/em>has to offer \u2013 the mateship! The mouthwatering food! The oh-so knowledgeable judges! \u2013 there is one thing that pains us to know every time we watch: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THINGS TASTY, WHAT HAPPENS TO ALL THE SHOW\u2019S LEFT OVER FOOD?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

First, let\u2019s start with the dishes that don\u2019t <\/strong>get selected by the judges to eat. Where do they go?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In an interview with <\/em>Yahoo Lifestyle<\/em>,<\/a> eliminated \u2018favourite\u2019 contestant John Carasig<\/a> revealed that to his knowledge, they get thrown out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI think they just get chucked out,\u201d he laughed. <\/em><\/p>

“Which is a shame, because I would rather have that for lunch than the lunch that we were getting in the green room.  <\/em><\/p>

\u201cWe\u2019re actually not allowed to touch anyone’s food,\u201d John told the publication. <\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

This isn\u2019t necessarily the case for produce in the show\u2019s heavenly pantry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking to News.com.au<\/a> <\/em>last year, MasterChef judge Jock Zonfrillo revealed that despite frequently replenishing fresh food supplies on the show, waste is minimal. Surprising, we know. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

And when there is leftover food from the MasterChef<\/em> pantry, it doesn\u2019t go to waste.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe do what\u2019s called the crew pantry where the crew nominate a charity to give to and put a donation into the jar then they take whatever they want from the crew pantry,\u201d Jock told the publication.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhat\u2019s left after that goes to SecondBite. Then there\u2019s the waste. We\u2019ve got a very fine composting machine which turns food waste into compostable material that goes into the MasterChef garden.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

SecondBite<\/a> is a national not-for-profit organisation established to minimise food waste, rescue foodand ensure it goes to anyone experiencing food insecurity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All in all, a great outcome. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
