After months of speculation it has been revealed that Meghan Markle <\/a>will not attend the coronation of King Charles III<\/a> and The Queen Consort <\/a>on May 6 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Buckingham Palace confirmed the news in a statement yesterday revealing that the Duchess of Sussex will remain at home in California with their children, Prince Archie <\/a>and Princess Lilibet<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prince Harry, however, will be in attendance:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Buckingham Palace is pleased to confirm that the Duke of Sussex will attend the coronation service at Westminster Abbey on 6th May,<\/em>” the statement said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

\n

“The Duchess of Sussex will remain in California with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet<\/em>.”<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

And, despite Prince Harry flying to the UK to support his father\u2019s coronation, it is believed that his visit home will be short and sweet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Coronation Service date – May 6 – coincides with Prince Archie\u2019s fourth birthday, with friend Omid Scobie telling the Daily Mail <\/em><\/a> that this \u201cplayed a factor in the couple\u2019s decision.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Omid added that he expected the Duke of Sussex to pay a \u201cfairly quick trip to the UK\u201d with Prince Harry likely to only attend the ceremony itself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As outlined by Buckingham Palace<\/a>, the service will be conducted by the Archbishop of Canterbury and will reflect the Monarch\u2019s role today and look towards the future, while being rooted in long standing traditions and pageantry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Details of how and where to watch the coronation service will be released in due course. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
