{"id":73388,"date":"2023-05-23T14:08:52","date_gmt":"2023-05-23T04:08:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cms.smooth.com.au\/?p=73388"},"modified":"2023-05-23T14:08:56","modified_gmt":"2023-05-23T04:08:56","slug":"the-rink-at-rising-june-1-july-8","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cms.smooth.com.au\/lifestyle\/whats-on\/the-rink-at-rising-june-1-july-8\/","title":{"rendered":"The Rink at RISING, June 1 &#8211; July 8"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Opening on the first day of Winter and running through the festival for an extended five-week season, <strong>The Rink at RISING<\/strong>, co presented with the <strong>Victorian Government<\/strong> and <strong>City of Melbourne<\/strong>, is an ice-skating experience of celestial proportions, inviting audiences to slice up the ice riverside under a deep constellation of lights, flanked with a backdrop of the glistening city skyline.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Following <strong>The Rink<\/strong>\u2019s early winter opening, RISING\u2019s School Holiday Program hosts ice skating demonstrations, bubble art making and even family friendly DJ-ing on during the school holidays from <strong>23 June &#8211; 8 July<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Beginners through to experienced skaters can level up their ice-skating game with lessons and demonstrations from professional coaches, before finishing their session gliding under The Rink\u2019s star-emblazoned canopy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With free workshops taking place across the holiday period, budding artists can join <strong>Jenna Lee,<\/strong> the artist behind RISING\u2019s 2023 moon design, in making their own bubbly-lunar scapes using ink, straw and paper, or draw on, write on and reflect on giant mirror installations with the team from<strong> Playable Streets<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Bringing&nbsp; a mix of disco, boogie, funk, rare groove, Afro, Latin, Cumbia, city pop, yacht groove, pop delights, The Rink\u2019s rotating DJ lineup will put a spring in your skating step, showcasing the talents of local well-loved and up and coming DJs and curators of fine tunes.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">An abundance of mouth-watering menu options will keep visitors of all tastes and ages warm and well-fed in the Rink Food Hall (free to enter). Hot-buttered popcorn, hot dogs\u2014including classic and vegan options\u2014 and loaded fries from <strong>Hot Dog Deli<\/strong>, wood-fired pizza from <strong>Fugazi,<\/strong> <strong>Pie Thief<\/strong> hot pies, chips and dips by <strong>Chappy\u2019s<\/strong> and <strong>Free to Feed<\/strong> and crepes from <strong>Crepes for Change<\/strong> are all on offer, as are <strong>Manny&#8217;s Doughnuts<\/strong> and <strong>Cha Time<\/strong> Bubble Tea and soft serve.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Drinks include a range of non-alcoholic options like a wide selection of <strong>M\u00f6rk<\/strong> hot chocolates, <strong>St Ali <\/strong>coffee and tea by Mabu Mabu, low sugar softies from <strong>Bobby <\/strong>and tinnies from <strong>Heaps Normal<\/strong>. While from The Rink\u2019s fully-stocked bar, there\u2019s <strong>Archie Rose<\/strong> cocktails, mulled wine, and Bodriggy beer and a rotation of wines on tap curated by <strong>Glou Sustainable Wine Bar<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To celebrate the first day of winter and the opening of The Rink visitors to the precinct on <strong>1 June<\/strong> will be treated <strong>free<\/strong>, delectable hot chocolates from M\u00f6rk while stocks last, while ticket holders that day can sign up for lessons from the pros at no cost.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The Rink at RISING<\/strong> is supported through the Melbourne City Revitalisation Fund \u2013 a $200 million partnership of the Victorian Government and the City of Melbourne.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Rink precinct is free to enter.
