It\u2019s the most anticipated movie of the year starring  Aussie golden girl Margot Robbie and Just Ken aka Ryan Gosling and now, the critic\u2019s reviews are in to decide (in part)  Barbie\u2019s <\/em>fate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We know you\u2019re on the fence about which movie to see opening weekend, Barbie <\/em>or Oppenheimer <\/em>so here\u2019s what the critics are saying.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

David Fear writes for Rolling Stone<\/em>: <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe movie does more than avoid delivering a two-hour commercial for Mattel\u2026 [Barbie could be] the most subversive blockbuster of the 21st century to date.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

 Alison Willmore writes for Vulture<\/em>: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c\u2026the trouble with trying to sneak subversive ideas into a project so inherently compromised is that, rather than get away with something, you might just create a new way for a brand to sell itself.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Ouch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Michael Phillips for The Chicago Tribune <\/em>gave the film 3.5 stars out of 4, saying: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cMattel could have played things far more safely\u2026 but a lot of the biggest laughs in Barbie<\/em> come at Mattel\u2019s expense.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Devan Coggan for Entertainment Weekly<\/em> says: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cRobbie gives an impressively transformative performance\u2026 moving her arms and joints like they\u2019re actually made of plastic. Robbie has brought a manic physicality to previous films including Babylon<\/em> and Birds of Prey<\/em>, but she now embraces physical comedy to the max.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Ross Bonaime for Collider <\/em>gave us all the warm feels making us excited to finally see Barbie<\/em>: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt could have been a little more than a toy ad.. but it instead became an existential look at the difficulties of being a woman, the terrifying nature of life in general, the understanding that trying to be perfect is absurd, while also encapsulating everything that Barbie has meant to people \u2014 both good and bad.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s worth noting that these reflect the critics\u2019 views. In fact, some of the smooth team were lucky to score a seat at the premiere and called it, \u2018Movie of the year\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
