{"id":989,"date":"2019-12-18T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2019-12-18T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cms.smooth.com.au\/uncategorised\/surprising-flight-rules-you-probably-dont-know-definitely-should-2\/"},"modified":"2019-12-18T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2019-12-18T00:00:00","slug":"surprising-flight-rules-you-probably-dont-know-definitely-should-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cms.smooth.com.au\/lifestyle\/surprising-flight-rules-you-probably-dont-know-definitely-should-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Surprising Flight Rules You Probably Don&#8217;t Know But Definitely Should"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>When it comes to travelling there are some pretty stock standard rules we all know.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>No aerosol cans in your carry on, no bottles over 100ml on your person, stow away the table in front during take off and landing.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>But it turns out some of the basic travelling rules, like stowing our bags away, aren\u2019t what we remember them to be.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>So we\u2019ve done some groundwork, and found out exactly what is expected when flying.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Cabin Crew DON\u2019T Have To Help With Bags&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>On local airlines like Qantas and Virgin Australia, cabin crew may only help passengers with their bags if the luggage doesn\u2019t exceed a certain weight amount.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Qantas recently revised their carry-on luggage limit to 10kg, which is great for the passenger but increases risk of injury for cabin staff. Qantas cabin crew are within their rights, according to Qantas policy, to refuse requests for help with carry-on baggage.<\/p>\n<p>Virgin Australia crew will help passengers with their carry-on \u2014 as long as it does not exceed the airline\u2019s 7kg weight limit.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%; height: 100%;\" class=\"media-element file-media-original nova-lazyload-image-wrapper lz-cont img-responsive\" data-delta=\"1\" src=\"https:\/\/cms.smooth.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/baggage_0.gif\" width=\"480\" height=\"271\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>No, You Can\u2019t Have That Seat Just Because It\u2019s Empty&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We all know what it feels like to be in a crappy aisle seat and have an empty window seat next to us.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>We just want to sit comfortably, damn it.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>But we can\u2019t just slide along and take a seat because it\u2019s empty. Passengers are required to sit in their allocated seat for safety reasons \u2013 if something goes wrong, cabin crew need to know everyone is accounted for.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>But, if you really want that window seat, you can ask cabin crew for permission to move.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>You Can Be Kicked Off A Plane For Smelling Bad<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s common sense and common decency to shower before stepping out in public. Especially when you know you\u2019re going to be in a confined space with lots of people.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Normally, smelling a bit crusty won\u2019t get you in trouble. But many airlines have a clause written into their conditions of travel that allow passengers with bad body odour to be banned from boarding.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>American Airlines can not only refuse transport to a passenger, they can have them removed from the flight at any point, if they \u201chave an offensive odour not caused by a disability or illness\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>A number of other (mostly American) airlines have the same rule, including Delta Air Lines, JetBlue, Spirit Airlines, Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines, plus Puerto Rico\u2019s Seaborne Airlines.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%; height: 100%;\" class=\"media-element file-media-original nova-lazyload-image-wrapper lz-cont img-responsive\" data-delta=\"2\" src=\"https:\/\/cms.smooth.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/planeattendant.gif\" width=\"480\" height=\"270\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>You Can\u2019t Leave The Country With A Wad Of Cash&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Why?
